John T. Brady
Education:
Born in Galesburg, Illinois, on May 18, 1945. He is a graduate of the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC (B.A., 1968), Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois, (Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling, 1971) and the University of Illinois College of Law (J. D., 1977).
Biography:
Mr. Brady is engaged in the general practice of law, with his time primarily devoted to adoption, family, mediation, real estate, estate planning, and local government law. He is admitted to practice before all Illinois courts, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a former Assistant State's Attorney, former Village Attorney, and former Assistant City Attorney. In 1990, he participated in a program in Columbus, Ohio, sponsored by the Ohio Bar Association, and designed to train attorneys in the special skills needed to effectively mediate family issues. He has had additional mediation training at conferences sponsored by the Academy of Family Mediators in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and by the Mediation Council of Illinois in Bloomington, Champaign, Chicago, Urbana, and Lake Forest, Illinois.
He is an instructor in the "Family Mediation" training program sponsored by Bradley University, and used to train mediators for certification by the Circuit Court of the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Illinois. Addditionally, he has served on the faculty of the Tenth Judicial Circuit training for Guardians ad Litem under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 900.
He is a member of the Peoria Downtown Kiwanis Club, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Peoria County Bar Association, and the Mediation Council of Illinois. He completed a three-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mediation Council of Illinois in 1996. At different times, he has served as the chair of the Peoria County Bar Association Family Law Committee, and has lectured on family law topics at seminars sponsored by the Peoria County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Mediation Council of Illinois.
John T. Brady served for fourteen years as a trustee for a fire protection district in Central Illinois. Additionally, he represents fire protection districts in Champaign, Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Lee, Whiteside, and Mason Counties in Illinois. He is former counsel to the Illinois Firefighters Association, Inc. In addition he is the author of the monograph Fire Protection District Administration and Organization, published by the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, Springfield, Illinois, 2000, and the chapter devoted to fire protection districts in the IICLE volume Special Districts (Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, 2009). He has authored various articles that have been published in the Fire Call, published by the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, and The Bulletin, published by the Illinois Firefighters Association, Inc. He lectures throughout Illinois on topics related to emergency fire, medical, and rescue services. He has frequently been a speaker at programs sponsored by the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Illinois Firefighters' Association, the Illinois Fire Apparatus Mechanics Association, and various county meetings and county fire schools.

Community Involvement
John T. Brady is one of the founders of Heart of Illinois Big Brothers / Big Sisters. Mr. Brady is also a member of the Peoria Downtown Kiwanis since 1980 and has served as the club president in 1991. Mr. Brady is a former board member of the Tri-County WomenStrength (now the Center for the Prevention of Abuse). Mr. Brady has held the position of trustee for the West Peoria Fire Protection District, 1981-1994. As a result of this involvement, he has presented numerous seminars to fire service organizations throughout the State of Illinois. In addition to being a member of the Peoria County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association, he has been a presenter at various legal education programs sponsored by these organizations, and has served as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman for different Peoria County Bar Association committees.
