Education:

Born in Bellefontaine, Ohio June 2, 1942; Admitted to Bar in 1969; Education —University of Notre Dame (B.A. cum laude 1965; J.D. 1968); Areas of practice include civil trial practice and domestic relations. Mr. Pusey was a finalist in the Notre Dame Moot Court Competition.

Biography:

Mr. Pusey is a member of the Peoria County Bar Association. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Peoria County Bar Association and is a past President of that Bar Associaion. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association. He has been a frequent author and lecturer for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Peoria County Bar Association Continuing Legal Education Committee, and Illinois Central College. He is also a former officer and director of Prairie State Legal Services, Inc., American Business Club of Peoria, Mental Health Association of Central Illinois, Willow Knolls Country Club, and Illinois Valley Notre Dame Club. He is a former member and past President of the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Council.

Mr. Pusey has obtained precedent setting rulings from the Illinois Appellate Court ( In re Marriage of Willis, 234 III. App. 3d 156 (3rd Dist 1992)) and the Illinois Supreme Court ( In re M.M.D., 213 III. 2d 105 (III. 2004)). He was named a Leading Lawyer in Illinois in the area of Family Law. He holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell and a "AV Preeminent" rating from Lexis Nexis, the highest ratings for both legal ability and professional ethics. He also holds a Bradley University certificate in family mediation.

Community Involvement

John Pusey works on fundraises for St. Jude and other local charities. Mr. Pusey also is an active member in the St. Thomas parish, serving communion to those who are home bound. In addition Mr. Pusey takes pro bono cases for indigent clients.
